Wendy S. Grolnick, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Clark University, is nationally known for her pioneering studies on the role parents play in children’s motivation and achievement. In addition to co-authoring Pressured Parents, Stressed-Out Kids, she is author of the critically acclaimed book, The Psychology of Parental Control: How Well-Meant Parenting Backfires (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates). Wendy has also published more than 60 scholarly articles. She is frequently quoted in newspapers and magazines including Parents, Family Circle, and Newsday, and she has appeared on radio shows including, “The Parents’ Journal,” “Body, Mind and Child” and NPR’s The Public Eye. A native New Yorker, Wendy currently lives in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She is married to Jay Kimmel and has two teenage daughters and a feisty Springer Spaniel named Bagels.
